Borage (borago officinalis) Interesting herb plant featuring clusters of bright blue star shaped flowers when in bloom. Mature plants take on a fuzzy appearance due to being covered with small stiff white hairs. Both leaves and flowers are edible and have a cucumber-like flavor. Most notably grown as a companion herb in vegetable gardens, borage flowers attract bees and beneficial insects and are reported to repel tomato hornworms from tomato plants. Easy to grow self-seeding annual. Full sun to partial shade, prefers well-drained soil. Live plant in 3 inch container. |
