Joe Pye Weed (eupatorium purpureum) - Ornamental wildflower is useful for attracting butterflies, bees, and beneficial insects to the garden. Produces large clusters of pale pinkish purple flowers summer through fall. Excellent for the back of the butterfly garden as it can reach heights of up to 10' or more! Flowers emit a sweet vanilla like fragrance that pollinators cannot resist. While they can be grown in full sun they do require adequate water and may benefit from a little shade during the hottest summer months. Space at least 3' apart as this perennial will eventually form a large clump. Perennial zones 4-8. Live plant in 3 inch container. |
