Blue Gum Eucalyptus (e. globulus) - Also called Southern Blue Gum or tasmanian blue gum. Attractive tree with elongated aromatic silver blue leaves. Leaves from this tree are the major source of eucalyptus oil used in aromatherapy, topical preparations and said to have medicinal properties. Fast growing tree in tropical climates, can reach a height of nearly 70 ft. Reported to be one of the cold hardiest eucalyptus varieties and can tolerate temperatures of about 20 degrees before freezing to the ground. Can be grown in a large container and moved indoors during colder winter months if kept trimmed into a bush. Tender perennial zones 8 - 11. One starter plant in 3" deep container.
